ASICO was established in 1983 by Ravi Nallakrishnan in Chicago, Illinois. Through our ASICO instrument line, we are focused on collaborating with leading physicians to create innovative surgical instruments that drive the ophthalmic market. Examples of such innovations include developing the world’s first nucleus chopper with Dr. Nagahara and prechopper with Dr. Akahoshi, both of which have become gold standards in the industry. Through the ASICO brand, we continue to partner closely with key surgeons around the globe to be at the forefront of innovation.

"When I see the Blink brand on one of our boxes, that name still typifies what the brand is about for me personally. My wife, my children, the houses I’ve had to buy and sell to fund the business. And that is forever something that will make me very, very proud."

Featured Products

Prechoppers

ASICO Prechoppers are designed for the efficient and safe fragmentation of the nucleus lens before phacoemulsification in cataract surgery. These instruments enable surgeons to reduce ultrasonic energy use during lens removal, minimizing stress on ocular tissues. The variety within this line caters to different lens densities and surgical techniques, offering precision and adaptability for effective cataract removal. ASICO has worked with renowned surgeons like Dr Akahoshi to design a wide range of prechoppers.

Diamond Knives

ASICO’s Diamond Knives are renowned for their sharpness, durability, and ability to make precise incisions with minimal tissue trauma. Ideal for a variety of ophthalmic procedures, including corneal, scleral, and limbal incisions, ASICO Diamond Knives are designed to be a trusted resource to ophthalmologists. The lineup features a range of designs, such as the Clear Cornea Diamond Knife and the Adjustable Depth Scleral Tunnel Knife, each tailored to specific surgical needs.

Corneal Markers

ASICO Corneal Markers are engineered to offer surgeons precise corneal marking for a wide range of surgeries, from toric IOL placements to corneal transplants, all ensuring critical surgical alignments are accurately achieved.

Shimowake CTR Injector

The Shimowake Spiral CTR Injector is designed for the capsular tension ring (CTR) insertion using a spiral technique to prevent snagging of the CTR eyelet with the capsule. This instrument is designed for use in cataract surgery where patients have weak zonula and moderate to severe zonular dehiscence.
