Once the flap has been cut, the epithelium is loosened by an alcohol solution which is placed into an alcohol well over the precut flap. Dr. Camellin designed an alcohol well with dual fixation grooves which prevents leakage and stabilize the eye. The diameter of the alcohol well is slightly larger than the flap to ensure penetration of the solution into the precut margin.
